Colorado Debate Includes all Ballot-listed Candidates — 5 Comments

  1. The Rocky Mountain News left out mention of the Libertarian and American Constitution Party candidates in its story on the debate. The Denver Post briefly mentioned them in its story.

The entire one hour debate is online through both KBDI’s (PBS) and KCNC’s (CBS) websites, the TV stations co-sponsoring the debates. KCNC included some discussion of the minor parties candidates’ positions on issues in their story.

An unaffiliated candidate, Paul Fiorino, has since been added to the ballot:

The RMN has had the best election coverage of Denver’s two big daily newspapers in the past, but seems to be shunning minor party candidates this year.

  3. The Rocky Mountain News had a sidebar story mentioning the two minor party candidates with anecdotes, but did not have any mention of those candidates or discussion of their positions in the main story on the debate, even though they co-sponsored the debate. They did not link the sidebar story from the main story online, which is why I missed it initially.

The Rocky Mountain News still does not mention the two minor party candidates on its gubernatorial election profile online page but has included an unaffiliated candidate for a while, who apparently just made inclusion on the fall ballot the day of the debate (but was not included in the debate, presumably because of his late inclusion on the ballot).
