Washington Post Predicts Passage of D.C. Voting Member in U.S. House

The Washington Post of December 1 has this article, predicting that the U.S. Senate will pass certain bills that have not passed in the past. The article includes the bill that would expand the size of the U.S. House from 435 to 437, giving a new seat to Utah and the other new seat to the District if Columbia.

  1. If they do this, than they should just return the District of Columbia to the State of Maryland. It completely destroys the whole reason for the existence of DC. Might as well just be another County in Maryland.

  2. And what is the reason for DC to exist? To stave off a potential aristocratic city of oligarchs, ala Versailles? The reasoning behind keeping DC merely a federal district has been out of date for decades, if not a century.

  3. #3 D.C. exists so that the party hacks in any State legislature do NOT mess with the Federal regime.

    Guess what might have happened if the 1860 slave States of MD and VA had ANY control over the D.C. area ???

    As it was MD was de facto taken over by the Union Army with 4 years of mass murder to end the rebellion and slavery in the slave States — about 620,000 dead Americans on both sides – with multi-thousands more mentally and physically maimed for life.
