On April 8, Ralph Nader’s attorneys filed this 34-page brief in the Maine Supreme Judicial Court, in Nader v Maine Democratic Party, Democratic National Committee, et al. This is Nader’s lawsuit, suing the Democratic Party for its actions to keep him off ballots in the 2004 presidential election. The lower court in Maine had not ruled on the substance of the lawsuit, but had found procedural reasons for not permitting a trial.

WISH HIM GOOD LUCK ON HIS TRIAL. MAYBE THIS COUNTRY WILL COME TO THE REALIZATION THAT THERE ARE MORE THAN TWO PARTIES. THERE HAS ALWAYS BEEN MORE GREYS THAN WHITES AND BLACKS IN LIFE…..BUT MOST POLITICIANS HAVEN’T FIGURED THAT OUT. THE VOTING PUBLIC, I HOPE, ARE READY TO REVOLT AND START PUTTING SOME DECENT AND WORTHWHILE PEOPLE IN OFFICE.

Continuing criticism and ridicule of Ralph only shows how little his detractors understand about his efforts.
It is very important to draw attention to wrongs committed by state election offices who are unduly influenced by politicians who want only two-party races. He is almost the only one who cares enough to spend his own money and time on it. Similarly, in his decades of writing and speaking about how big corporations(those that cheat us, poison us, and lie to us) he goes against the grain of those in politics and government who diminish our right to have a say in what affects us badly. It is horrible to see how few Americans engage in this effort, because it is our work as ciltizens. Ralph trains by example. Pay attention. Why leave everything up to strangers we elect? Nader takes courage well beyond the average person’s ability to merely endure a little harassment. We owe him respect. He is our citizenship teacher.
