Nevada to Hold Special U.S. House Election on September 13

Because Dean Heller, the Congressmember from Nevada’s 2nd district, has been appointed to the U.S. Senate, his seat is now vacant and a special election will be held to replace him on September 13. But Nevada’s law on special U.S. House elections is so poorly written, no one knows if parties nominate candidates, or if candidates just file as individuals. The only thing known for sure is that there will be no primaries for the special election.

Ever since Nevada has been a state, it has never before had a vacancy in one of its U.S. House seats in the middle of a term.

  1. NV was a Civil War regime created gerrymander State (like WV) to pack the gerrymander U.S.A. Senate with more Elephants.

How is possible for the MORON party hacks in ANY State to NOT have rational laws regarding U.S.A. Rep and Senator vacancies ???

    — i.e. how many super-MORONS in the New Age States — regarding basic stuff for even hundreds of years — regarding REGULAR elections and even vacancies for U.S.A. Reps and Senators ???

P.R. and App.V. — to END the lunacy in some nutcase States.

  2. History note – each SANE territory before it became a State initially copied the laws of some existing State — starting with the old NW and SW territory regimes.

How come the early Nevada territory/later State regime apparently did NOT do such copying ???

  3. Because us Nevadans don’t like to follow the flow.
And when Nevada became a state, the people in that state strongly supported the Union cause and were already screaming for statehood long before.

You better stop taking smack about us, boy!

  4. The IAP will be running a candidate for this election, an announcement will be forthcoming

  5. #1, yes, the Secretary of State will issue a ruling soon on how candidates qualify.

  6. Regarding the general vacancy stuff —

Each candidate / incumbent should have a rank order replacement list.

Legislative body fills a vacancy by default if there is no qualified replacement on a list.
