I feel terrible that former-Congressman Jessie Jackson, Jr. Is suffering from bi-polar disorder. I have a loved one who suffers from it as well and my prayers are with him. I hope that he is not guilty of misappropiating campaign funds because prison can be rough when one is suffering from bi-polar disorder. What I cannot for the life of me figure out is why he thought that it was a good idea to run for re-election. I do not live in Illinois so I am not all that concerned about the cost of the special election. I do, on the other hand, think that it wrong of him to leave his constituents with out representation in the House of Representatives for over three months next year because he chose to run for re-election.
Couldn’t they vote on having an appointment rather than having an election?
#2, the US Constitution doesn’t permit members of the US House to be appointed. The US Senate is different on that variable and Governors may sometimes appoint US Senators, but never members of the House.
One more const amdt – for ALL legislative bodies
1. Candidate/incumbent rank order replacement lists.
2. Legislative body to fill vacancy if 1. fails.
NO more MORON very expensive special elections.
Also– now quite possible attacks much worse than 7 Dec 1941 / 911 due to foreign/domestic enemies of Democracy.
