New Idaho Voter Registration Data

As of May 6, 2013, Idaho reports these voter registration figures: Republican 239,002; Democratic 55,254; independent or miscellaneous 439,715; Libertarian 3,156; Constitution 1,500.

Voter registration by party is new in Idaho. It only started in 2012. The tally last year showed far fewer members of parties, since the procedure was new and party totals essentially started from zero. The 2012 figures, for example, only showed 362 Libertarians and 225 Constitution Party members.

  1. More New Age PURGE lists.

See the Stalin and Hitler purges in the 1930s.

    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.
    NO party hack registration lists.

  2. #2, the IAP hasn’t always had a big registration. At the time of the 1974 primary in Nevada, the IAP only had 460 registered voters in Nevada. But that year its gubernatorial nominee, James Ray Houston, came in second in a majority of Nevada counties, outpolling the Republican nominee. Statewide he got 15.52%.

  3. Will the fringe ever have high numbers over the two main parties? Some voters may think they are registered Independent but end up in parties like the IAP or the AIP in CA. In Idaho if people are not registered in a party, can those voters cross vote between political party ballots?

  4. #4, the Democratic, Libertarian, and Constitution Parties of Idaho let registered independents vote in their primaries. The Republican Party does not.

  5. # 3, point taken.

In fact the IAP’s numbers were only a few thousand back in 1999.

I remember James Ray Houston AKA ‘The Silver King’ was a exception since he was a very well-known businessman that put in a lot of money into his campaign and was in running a distant second in the polls back then.

Problem was, he was one hell of a con artist and got exposed right before election day and left the IAP soon after, yet that incident didn’t hurt the IAP too much and they stayed on the ballot for another couple of years.

FYI, James Ray Houston died in prison last November.

  6. Many races here are decided in the GOP primary, so if you want a say, you need to be registered Republican. I suspect there are quite a few Libertarians and CP members in that Republican number.
