On September 11, the California Assembly passed AB 857, the bill to require statewide initiatives to obtain at least 10% of their needed valid signatures via unpaid petition circulators. The bill had passed the State Senate the day before, so now it goes to the Governor.

I’d be OK with this law as long as there was a special exception which would allow an unlimited number of paid corporate persons to walk around collecting signatures.
I’m sure Richard would like, as much as I, to see a group of corporate persons outside of a supermarket exercising their unfettered right to free speech.
And helping old ladies with their shopping carts.
