According to this article, Dick Harpootlian, a South Carolina attorney and former state chair of the Democratic Party, predicts that if U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham loses the June Republican primary for re-election, there will be a strong independent candidate for U.S. Senate.

  1. I read the article. If only his positions were printed, he would sound like Elizabeth Warren.

What Harpootlian is proving is, the Democratic Party has no plans to run a candidate in that race, and that Harpootlian thinks an independent candidate would have a better shot than a nominee of one of SC’s other nine ballot qualified political parties, one of which is named “The Independence Party”. Here in SC, independent candidates appear with the letter (P) next to their name, meaning “Petition”…but the word “independent” does not appear on the ballot.

    If Dick Harpootlian wants to have an impact on the Graham election, he needs to get busy now.
