Stephen Gaskin has died at the age of 79. See this obituary. In 2000 he sought the Green Party presidential nomination, a daunting task given that Ralph Nader was also seeking it. The vote at the Green Party convention in Denver was Nader 295, Gaskin 10, Jello Biafra 10. Thanks to Steven Linnabary for the link.

  1. So sorry to hear of the passing of Stephen. Beginning in 1978, I have led delegations of students taking a seminar I taught on Quest for the Ideal on weekend field trips to visit the folk at The Farm. Stephen and Ina Mae were always welcoming to us, as all of the people at this well-known and long-lasting intentional community. I knew that Stephen had run for the Green Party nomination. Had he won the nomination and election, he would have made one crazy wild president, but he was a good and very interesting human being.
