Virginia Special Legislative Election Results

On July 21, Virginia held a special election for Delegate, 74th district, in the Richmond area. The vote: Democrat Lamont Bagby 2,192 votes; independent candidate David Lambert 398 votes.

  1. This is the district that has had two special elections this years caused by Joe Morrissey’s resignation. He resigned the first time as part of a plea bargain deal, and then ran in the special election. He served as a Delegate on work release from jail. Subsequently, he moved so that he could run for senator in this fall’s election. Since he no longer lived in his house district, there was another special election.

    He failed to qualify for the Democratic primary because his petition was deficient, but he intends to run as an independent.
