Huffington Post Carries Interview with Darrell Castle, Constitution Party Nominee — 14 Comments

  1. Woo Hoo! Go Darrell! More libertarian than the Libertarian nominee!

  2. Casual Bystander/Casual Observer… Castle is NOT libertarian. Castle is a paleo-conservative. They’re NOT even remotely the same thing. Paleo-conservatives are the equivalent of the Federalist Party from the late 1700s. Libertarians are equivalent to the Democratic-Republican Party started by Jefferson during the same time.

  3. You’re basically looking at the left-right spectrum of the 1700s when you look at the Libertarian Party and the Constitution Party.

  4. Check back after the LP nominates a guy who owes his ass to the FEC and another guy who is in favor of gun control! Just HOW libertarian is that?

  5. Casual Bystander/Casual Observer… You’re wrong. If you’re referring to Johnson and that debt from 2012… yeah, paid off. The FEC hasn’t gotten around to removing it from their system yet:

“Due to the nature of FEC reporting, our 2012 campaign reports continue to show a substantial “debt”. That is in no way unusual. Most major national campaigns have the same reporting issue. The actual debts listed by the FEC have, in reality, been resolved and the resolution has been submitted to the FEC for approval — months ago. Our attorneys continue to work with the FEC to gain acceptance of our submissions, and we are confident they will ultimately do so. This is a tedious and burdensome process that plagues virtually all major campaigns, and says more about the nature of government regulation than it does about our finances.”

And a “guy in favor of gun control” is the only we attract Leftest… which is the only a third-party will win the presidency. Pulling from both sides. The Constitution Party will forever be unelectable for the office of president. They’re too fringe… same is true for the Green Party. Both only appeal to about 20% of the electorate of their corresponding sides.

  6. By the way, nice attempt at a strawman… you in NO WAY whatsoever addressed anything I said in my post, but instead deflected to the supposed flaws that you see in the leading LP candidate.

  7. Castle is a class act, if this election were even I would vote for Castle , however its not, I want to beat Hillary so I will vote for Trump, I would like to see Castle on the Supreme Court

  8. Castle doesn’t strike me as a Federalist type. The Federalists regarded the national debt as a tool to strengthen the country; Castle clearly views that debt as an anchor dragging us down.

  9. Darrell Castle sounded good to me..I am concerned that Gary Johnson chose a CFR member as his VP choice… Darrell is a good guy who puts American interests and freedom first..

  10. Apparently the Idaho affiliate of the CP refuses to have Castle on their ballot and placed Scott Copeland on instead. They’re also alleging that the executive committee of the CP forced the nomination of Castle down the throats of other CP delegates and state parties in a manner of which they did not care for.

In fact, besides Copeland, whom is on the ballot in Idaho now, J.R. Myers is also alleging the same treatment at the CP convention in SLC and is continuing his campaign for president-

And with him, plus Copeland and even Tom Hoefling and Farley Anderson of the National IAP running -the constitutionalist vote is going to be quite fractured and insignificant this year. In fact with the way things are going, Castle will be very lucky to get on the ballot in 25+ states.

Btw, Castle & the CP are in no way more libertarian then the LP, not by a long shot… Not with the baggage that they have.

I’ll take having near anarchy over the “biblical” style government that the CP and many of it’s theocratic zealots advocate for, period.

  11. I honestly don’t feel like getting into this debate with Idaho and the national CP…I was interested in seeing Mr. Copeland and Mr. Myers get a shot at running, maybe even as a ticket together…I thought the new faces and energy would be good for the party…I havent been involved for the last few years and am just getting back in, so hopefully this can all be worked out…that being said, I do like Darrell and Scott Bradley.
