Austria High Court Says Presidential Election was Flawed and Must be Done Again

Austria held a presidential election run-off on May 22. On July 1, the highest court said there were flaws in the election process, and the election must be run again, probably in September or October. See this story, which says this appears to be the first time any election to choose a head of state, or head of government, has been re-done. However, commentor Bob Richard says a similar result occurred in Ukraine in 2004.

The Fargo Forum had story a day or so ago about the ND primary election rule (upheld not long ago).

This recent story was from a Republican who seemed to want to make the rule tougher to hurt the Democratic party.

  2. In 2004, an election for the President of the Ukraine was surrounded by allegations of fraud followed by massive street demonstrations. The result was annulled and a new election called for a month or two later.

  3. Are the SCOTUS HACKS paying any attention during their summer vacations ???

i.e. AUTOMATIC redo ANY election that is screwed up by the robot party hacks in the Fed/State/Local regimes — and have such hacks pay for the election redo — i.e. go bankrupt.

  4. Austria has the legal mechanisms to deal with a close national election for President.

    The United States does not.
