Green Party Expects to Submit More than 25,000 Signatures for Missouri Ballot Access on August 1

The Missouri Green Party expects to submit over 25,000 signatures to the Secretary of State on Monday, August 1, the deadline. The requirement is 10,000 signatures. Assuming the petition is valid, this will be the first time the Green Party has been on the ballot for President in Missouri since 2000.

Except for the Arizona and Illinois Green Parties, the Missouri petition has the greatest number of signatures the Green Party will have collected in any state to get on the ballot in 2016.

  1. Interesting, I had been told they weren’t allowed to call themselves the Green Party, because the other Green Party had monopolized that name in the state.

  2. I believe the two Green parties merged and combined their efforts to get the ballot petition signatures.

  3. Lee is correct. The merger was earlier this year. We also will be running candidates for US Senate, three statewide races, and for State Legislature and local offices.

  4. Well, good for the Greens. With the Green Party there are five “official” parties in MO. Hope we can get some more parties in the next few years!

  5. It would be solid marketing to rebrand the whole party as Green Progressive.
