Vanity Fair Article Suggests Mark Zuckerberg May Run for President, Perhaps in 2024; Gives No Hint of His Party — 9 Comments

  1. He has the name ID and money to run a viable independent or 3rd party campaign if he so desired, but he is rather young still and i too would bet that he would wait till 2024 if he was to give it a go.

  2. Zuckerberg certainly wouldn’t run as a Green or Libertarian, that’s for sure. His recent actions as the CEO of Facebook are rather at odds with civil libertarianism. I agree with Socratic; definitely as a Democrat and a neoliberal one at that.

  3. Definitely as a Democrat for the same reason Trump ran as a Republican. Sure, he could afford to run an an independent or 3rd party candidate, but if he wants to win the presidency, it is much more likely with the support of the machine behind him. Trump won with the support of Republican regulars who were not too thrilled to have him as their nominee. But, they always support the Republican.

  4. Zuckerberg would be old enough to run in 2020 (he’ll be 36). To specify 2024 makes it sound like he doesn’t want to run against Trump; unless he thinks being 40 instead of 36 will spare him some of the “too young” flak.

  5. I think Zuckerberg is a lot more likely to run when he is in his 50s, 60s, or 70s. I don’t see it in 2020 or 2024.

  6. I hope he does, just so he Trump can lose his “business experience” as leverage.
