New Oklahoma Voter Registration Data

On January 17, the Oklahoma State Election Board posted new voter registration data. The new percentages are: Republican 45.76%; Democratic 39.43%; Libertarian .18%; independent and miscellaneous 14.62%. See the data here.

The percentages just prior to the November 2016 election were: Republican 45.61%; Democratic 39.71%; Libertarian .17%; independent and miscellaneous 14.52%.

  1. In 1960, there were 837K Democrats, 180K Republicans, and 4K independents, for a total of 1.020M voters.

    In 2017, there are 852K Democrats, a 1.9% increase;
    989K Republicans, a 5.5-fold increase;
    316k independents, an 88-fold increase;
    2.162M total, a 2.12-fold increase.

    There are now more Libertarians than there were independents in 1960.

    The peak American Party registration was 6,059 in 1972, the largest ever for a 3rd party registration.
