Wyoming Bill for a Presidential Primary

Wyoming is one of the few states that has never had a presidential primary. Representative David Northrup (R-Powell) has introduced HB 201, which would provide for presidential primaries. They would be on the third Tuesday in April. The bill is quite long but seems not to explain how a candidate would get on a presidential primary ballot.

  1. Unless it is in the new section 22-2-109(d) that says the method of how the results will be used shall be established by the SOS by rule.

  2. 22-5-205 gives a form for the application to a partisan primary. So unless I’m misreading that you simple deal with that form. Page 13.

  3. The bill renames the “primary” to “regular biennial primary election”. The application specified in 22-5-204 specifies it is for the “regular biennial primary election”.
