California Assembly Passes Bill Requiring Large Signs in Polling Places, Telling Independents Which Primary Ballots They May Choose

On May 15, the California Assembly passed AB 837 by 58-20. It provides for large signs in all primary polling places, telling independent voters which party primary ballots they are free to choose.

  1. What about mail voters? Will they get a shipping tube with the large poster rolled up in it?

  2. They get their sample ballot in the postal mail with a notice that they can have a Democratic, Libertarian and American Independent primary ballot. If they want one, they are supposed to send in a SASE postcard that is included.
