Governor John Kasich Statements About a Multi-Party System for the U.S.

On February 25, Ohio Governor John Kasich was on ABC-TV’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos”. He said, “We may be beginning to see the end of the two party system. I’m starting to really wonder if we’re going to see a multi-party system at some point in the future of this country…I’m saying that our young people are fed up and why I’m saying that the prospect of a multi-party system in this country is a real possibility.” Thanks to PoliticalWire for the link. The Kasich portion of the show starts about 60% of the way through.

Governor John Kasich Statements About a Multi-Party System for the U.S. — 15 Comments

  1. Kasich: “… the end of the two party system.”

    Hah! What a doofus!

If he’s so convinced that more parties will be viable, he should leave the GOP and form his own “centrist” party along with McMuffin and some of the Jewish neocons who left the donkeys for the elephants 20 years ago and now hate Trump because he can’t be controlled.

Oh wait … Kasich is just a bag of hot air and has not the stomach for actually leaving the safety of being a member of the GOP establishment cabal.

  2. Don Wills… He nor McMullin are centrists, they’re actual Republicans. The Republican Party is actually Federalist boarding on Nationalist. If we actually had a multiple party system we’d have a National Party and a Federalist Party, and about 80% of current Republicans would be in one of those two parties. The remaining, actual, Republicans (Kasich, McMullin, Rand Paul etc – who believe in Republicanism) would be the Republican Party.

  3. Aiden – ahhh … the fight for who controls the party. Not a new phenomenon. The winner gets special treatment in all elections among its many perks. And the loser gets … sent out in the cold. Reagan battled the establishment in the 1970’s, winning control of the GOP in 1980 which he turned into a party of his policies. Clinton won control of the Ds thanks to HRP in 1992 and remade it into a centrist party. The populists/nationalists have taken control of the GOP because DJT got lucky and only had to beat HRC, when he would have been clobbered by Biden. And now the socialists are about to gain control of the Ds (and would have already if HRC hadn’t stolen the primary). Nope, nothing new here.

Aiden – your attempt to define McMuffin as an “actual Republican” is laughable. To the winner goes the spoils. And also the right to define the party. McMuffin lost and is now wandering in the wilderness around in looking for a new home.

  4. Kasich should advocate for Top 2 elections in his Ohio, which eliminates the need for party qualification, party affiliation in order to vote, and party nominations.

  5. ALL the *parliamentary* regimes are FATAL — same top hacks having both legis and exec powers = mere 2/3 tyrants.

ZERO learned in Europe in 1914-1945 with the various fatal *parliamentary* regimes (esp in Germany, UK and France in 1933-1939) — about 100 million DEAD in the 2 World Wars.

TOTAL separation of powers – regardless of ALL MORONS who want those all powerful regimes.

  6. Single member districts and plurality voting are the pillars of the two party system. What does he propose to replace them?

  7. WZ asks “What does he [Kasich] propose to replace them?”

LOL. Kasich doesn’t have any clue what he’s talking about. He would be surprised and befuddled by the question.

  8. How many doofuss (aka MORON) State Guvs (and even USA Prezs) have been elected since 1776 — esp since TV in late 1940s ???
