U.S. Supreme Court Lets New Pennsylvania U.S. House Districts Stand

On the afternoon of Monday, March 19, the U.S. Supreme Court unanimously rejected the Republican legislative leaders’ request for a stay on using the new districts. Thanks to Rick Hasen for this news.

  1. Thus – the SCOTUS 9 continue to be paralyzed by gerrymander math —

    1/2 or less votes x 1/2 rigged districts = 1/4 or less CONTROL

  2. As expected, though it took an interestingly long time. I cannot see the three-judge District Court jumping in at this late date, which might have been a factor in the Supreme Court’s delay.

  3. Just read the District Court’s decision. It dismissed on standing grounds. Supreme Court may have delayed to see what District Court’s next step was. Anyway, this settles the matter. PA is over.
