  1. Interesting, i’m not sure the general public has any name id when it comes to the secretary of state. I would guess that the Libertarian candidate will get more support than usual because uninformed Republican voters will not know that Jaeger is backed by the Republican party. Whether or not that’s enough to allow the Democratic candidate to win or not, i don’t know, but it certainly puts the election for Secretary of State in play. Given that Jaeger lost the republican convention for the office, the Libertarian should make a pitch to get the Republican party’s endoresement over Jaeger if he wants any real chance at getting elected.

  2. Jaeger has been SOS since 1993, he might have more name recognition than ordinary.

The bizarre part is that he was defeated at the Republican state convention. North Dakota splits its elections for state office. The governor and lieutenant governor were elected in 2016, so along with the Attorney General, the SOS is the most prominent state office on the ballot.
