  1. But no nominees for any office in New Mexico for 2018. I guess the ballot line is secure for two cycles so they have another state on the books for 2020.

  2. Great news! Richard, is that right, that they are on for 2020 as well? Is it still required in N.M. for candidates to obtain a bunch of sigs to be in a primary, even if the party has ballot access?

  3. The New Mexico Constitution Party will automatically be on in 2020. The only way it could go off in November 2018 if it were to run a candidate for Governor who then got under .5%. But the Constitution Party is not running anyone for Governor this year, so it is safe in 2020. But in 2020 it must run someone for some office, including president. And if the presidential candidate in 2020 gets under .5%, then the party will go off the ballot in November 2020.

It is still true that qualified minor parties in New Mexico, who nominate by convention, must then submit a nominee petition for each nominee (not counting president). If it weren’t for that requirement, chances are some Constitution Party members would have run for some office in 2018.
