Congressmember Tom Marino (R-Pennsylvania) has introduced HJRes 26. It would amend the U.S. Constitution so that U.S. House members would be elected to four year terms, instead of two year terms. Thanks to Steve Goodale for this news.

  1. Due to the 6 year terms of USA gerrymander Senators

    — and more and more State/local hacks with 4 year terms.

  4. Something more creative is needed. Perhaps it should be entirely up to the states how long a representative serves, and when and how they are elected. Within states, it might be interesting to use a system of perpetual proxy voting. Each representative from a state could be chosen at large by having to win a minimum number of signed proxies from voters. They would serve as long as they maintained the minimum number of proxies, which could be transferred by each voter at any time. In this way, they would each be true representatives.

  5. Another typical politician who has never read the Federalist and Anti-Federalist papers and probably the Constitution as well. Oh well…

  7. Even one year terms may be too long — in this New Age of robot gerrymander HACKS and their nonstop statist machinations.

IE – RECALL elections for entire legislative bodies.

Nonstop voter petitions for laws — which, if approved by a voters majority, can NOT be amended or repealed by the HACKS — only the voters later.

  8. Marino followed up this amendment introduction with his resignation from office. Which should be an indicator that this may not go far.

  9. Term limits = as INSANE/MORON as for term limits for doctors / scientists / fast food folks.
