Maine Bill for a Presidential Primary is Signed

On June 20, Maine Governor Janet Mills signed LD 1626, which sets up presidential primaries in Maine.  They do not involve ranked choice voting.  The primary is voluntary and parties must decide whether to use them.  Parties also must decide whether or not to let independents vote in their presidential primaries.  Thanks to Josh Putnam for this news.

  1. How many States NOT having Prez primaries for Donkeys/Elephants ???

    NO caucuses, primaries, conventions.

PR and non-partisan AppV – pending Condorcet

  2. CL —
the brain dead media is too math STUPID at the moment for Condorcet..

It has been too moron stupid to detect ANTI-Democracy Gerrymander math 001 since 1776 —

1/2 OR LESS VOTES X 1/2 RIGGED GERRYMANDER AREAS = 1/4 OR LESS CONTROL = killer rotted oligarchs in CONTROL — with actual killer rotted monarchs in REAL CONTROL [Speakers, Leaders, etc.]

MUCH WORSE BEFORE 1964 SCOTUS CASES.

See current Iran drone shoot down machination >>> possible WW III – and END of human life.

  3. Nothing new about *High Seas* machinations-

before War of 1812 — Brits seize USA civilian sailors and force them into Brit Navy [to fight Napoleon – France] >>> War of 1812 by USA

1915 Lusitania sunk by German sub – Brits claimed NO war stuff on ship – Brit BIG LIE

    — part of excuse for USA into WW I — Apr 1917

Aug 1964 USA claim that N. Vietnam attacked USA ships on High Seas [Tonkin Gulf] — USA super-BIG LIE

    — Vietnam War 1964-1973 for USA.

small lies- BIG LIES — killers at work.

  4. Demo-Rep, state-run primaries could be eliminated(and I’ll agree should be). But if groups of people organize themselves into political parties and then hold conventions or caucuses or their own self-funded primaries what justification is there to prevent them from doing so and how could it be accomplished?

  5. I agree with Chris. Primaries are usually state funded activities, and can be eliminated. However, you cannot outlaw caucuses and conventions because they are based on the free association rights of political parties. In fact, a party can run it’s own internal, self-funded primary, if it so decides. And, with new technology, this could be done by phone, internet, or even blockchain.

  6. NOMINATIONS OF PUBLIC CANDIDATES FOR PUBLIC OFFICES BY PUBLIC NOMINATING PETITIONS OR LIMITED FILING FEES.

ZERO NEED FOR ANY CAUCUSES, PRIMARIES AND CONVENTIONS —

AKA CUT O-U-T THE MIDDLE MAN/WOMAN HACK MACHINATIONS.

FOLKS CAN ASSEMBLE AND ISSUE WHATEVER PLATFORMS — ZERO EFFECT ON PUBLIC NOMINATION PROCESS.

  7. Separate reforms-

Voter petitions for Const. Amdts., laws, recalls in ALL regimes.

END the EVIL ROTTED rule by oligarchs/monarchs — aka hacks/tyrants.

  8. Demo Rep, prior to the advent of printed ballots when there were no state nomination requirements we still had a very robust party system. I see no reason to believe that nomination by petition or filing fees without regard to party would do anything to prevent parties from using their own caucuses, conventions, or primaries to choose candidates to support. A modern example is the Nebraska legislature which is technically non-partisan but the races are entirely partisan anyway. You’ll either have to outlaw nominating caucuses and conventions and such or accept that they will exist regardless of what nominating requirements the state does or doesn’t have.

  9. OUTLAW them regarding *public nominations* — since they are ANTI-Democracy oligarchy machinations.

Endorse/support stuff by ALL faction groups is super-different than *public nominations*.

    End the NE FRAUD system.

*OPEN* partisan nominations [via partisan Nom Pets/filing fees] and PR elections.
