New Hampshire Has 50 Presidential Primary Candidates on Ballots — 27 Comments

  1. Rocky De La Fuente has apparently filed in both primaries. Is h running as a fusion candidate?

  2. There is no such thing as running as a fusion candidate in a primary. Fusion applies to general elections. But I guess one could say he is seeking the presidential nomination of both parties, in a very limited sense (only New Hampshire).

  3. Are there any other states in which he can run in both primaries? Is it not the case that Sanders is running as a Democrat , even tho he has not joined that party in any express way? Is it not the case that, given some states don’t have party registration, that no state can really control which Presidential primary a candidate enters? Is it possible for a candidate for President to run in the primary of one party in some states, and then run in the primary of a different party in other states?

  4. There are many states in which it is legal for a candidate to file in the presidential primary of more than one party.

  5. I heard from the Rocky De La Fuente campaign that the Roque De La Fuente that filed as a Dem is a different person.

  6. Not the same Rocky? I thought for a minute there, Rocky had some new campaign strategy. I wonder if the “faux” Rocky will file in other states as well.

  7. Actually, didn’t Rocky file for several US Senate races simultaneously in 2018? I’m getting suspicious, now.

  8. With a list that long in such a small state, I could see some candidates getting tens of votes, if that.

  9. Yes, Rocky did run for US Senate in several states. He also ran for Mayor of New York City even though he did not regularly reside there. I think he divides most of his time between California and Florida.

  10. Any suicidal loons stalking any of the top govt hacks having govt cops security ???

New Age cops – shoot first all lunes – pardons later ???

  11. Qualification as a candidate in any state affords recognition in California. All 50 candidates qualify for the California primary.

The curiosity is that RDLF(R) filed in person, while RDLF(D) filed by mail, using a gmail email address.

6 of the also ran Democrat candidates, Greenstein, Thistle, Hewes, Burke, Moroz, and Sloan also ran in 2016.

Zoltan Istvan filed for the Republican nomination. He should run as a Democrat. They would recognize a transhumanist caucus.

  12. Any ET outer space mutant folks running ??? —

certain to be recognized in Holllly-woood ???

  13. Candidates for the LPNH primary needed to be eligible to be elected, be a member of LP National or their State LP, not be seeking the nomination of another party, and but be assisted with another party via voter registration. The also need to pay a $25 filling fee.

  14. Bravery awards for the 16 NON-Trump Elephant folks ??? !!! —

like challenging Mussolini or Hitler ??? !!!

BUT – their bravery ***may*** save the HONOR of the GOP —

IE The Party of Lincoln and the 13-14-15 Amdts.

  15. @DWP,

When the party announced that they would be holding a primary in NH, they said that the filing period would be the same as for the state-sponsored primary. Since this blog entry was about filings in the just completed filing period, I was curious about how many filed for the Libertarian primary.

I could not find anything on the LPNH web site after the July 4th announcement.

  16. @Jim, I’m still waiting for that information from the LPNH Secretary. I will publish the list as soon as I have it!

  17. @DWP,

Thanks. I’m curious whether Vermin Supreme filed.

If I understand the California statute, filing in another state qualifies a candidate in California. “primary” does not necessarily mean a state-subsidized activity on behalf of a private organization. In any event, the NH primary could alternatively be viewed as a caucus ballot.

  18. Do you think that Ballot Access News could have a running tally of those candidates who are on or off the ballot in each state? I think a visual aid that shows the candidates and which states they are on (or perhaps off) would be a good way to keep viewers informed about how each campaign is doing with respect to the arduous task of getting on the ballot in each and every jurisdiction. I’ve also never seen a table with the individual filling deadlines for each state before, which are not similar to when that states have their respective primaries.
