Independent Party of Delaware Has Candidate for U.S. Senate

Mark W. Turley is seeking the nomination of the Independent Party of Delaware for U.S. Senate. It is ballot-qualified but in 2018 did not have a single candidate for any partisan race. Assuming the party nominates him, it will be the party’s first congressional candidate since 2012.

  1. The Independent Party of Delaware nominated Mark Turley as its US Senate candidate at its early nominating convention on September 14, 2019 along with Brian Whittaker for New Castle County President. A regular nominating convention will be held later in 2020.

Incumbent Democrat, Chris Coons, faces progressive Jessica Scarane and possibly Scott Walker, a controversial self-styled candidate who ran against incumbent US representative, Lisa Blunt Rochester in 2018 as a Republican before returning to the Democratic Party in 2019.
