Nevada Democratic Party Website Still Has No Caucus Results

As of Sunday evening, February 23, the Nevada Democratic Party website still has no election returns from the February 22 caucus. The latest press release is about the number of individuals who registered Democratic just prior to the caucus. See that web page here. Of course it will change in the near future.

Thus – one more 2020 extremist primary.

  2. Bernie is an Independent, yet the Democrats let him run in their primaries. Guess they might want to rethink that rule now.

  3. Why rethink it? Bernie Sanders fits in well with their narrative. You think he’s too much of a (hypocritical) communist?

  4. There are other examples of major parties nominating non-members for president or vice-president. Horace Greeley was the Democratic nominee for president in 1872, but he was a Republican. John Tyler was the Whig nominee for vice-president in 1840, but he was a Democrat. Andrew Johnson was the Republican nominee for vice-president in 1864 but he was a Democrat.

  5. I believe that Einsenhower only joined the Republican Party when he decided to run for President

  6. What’s really tricky about this issue is that many states do not have partisan voter registration. How do you determine the party membership of someone from one of those states?

  7. You’re right, Walter. Eisenhower was a registered independent on the day he was nominated for president at the Republican 1952 convention.

  8. Thanks for the history lesson, Richard. Yes, 1952 is probably a better comparison to this year’s election than the ones from 160 years ago. Eisenhower and Taft were neck and neck with Earl Warren third and also Harold Stassen and Douglas MacArthur. With the superdelegates of which Bernie complains so much about, I can see their convention going to a second round as well.

  9. Demo Rep:

So, okay, we have no primaries, and we have just use popular vote totals for President. How do we nominate Presidential candidates? Who decides who is no the Presidential ballot?

You know, one nice thing about the Electoral College is that it can function without primaries, because it has in the past.

  10. Richard, Could you answer Walter’s question? I believe I had also asked it before: How many states DO NOT have partisan voter registration? Thanks.

  11. WZ – equal nominating petitions for ALL offices.

That may all be true, but irrelevant to my question. Without primaries or the electoral college, how would Presidential candidates be nominated?

  15. @ Demo Rep

I’m not sure I like the idea of huge national petition drives to get Presidential candidates on one national ballot. How many signatures would be required? How long would validation challenges be allowed?

  16. Same for ALL offices —

  17. You could also have parties nominate by convention or run their own caucuses or primaries with no government interference or subsidy. Better yet, no government printed ballot at all, go back to privately printed and handwritten votes.

  18. Could someone summarize what Thomas Jones (Demo Rep) wrote? I am not fluent in jibberish.

  19. Then why don’t you just skip over his comments? Tbh I’m not his biggest fan either but obviously Richard doesn’t agree and it’s his site, on top of which he has bigger issues to deal with than play playground monitor for full grown adults. All you are doing is adding to the noise level, demo rep is obviously not discouraged and Richard has rejected the idea of kicking him out.

I also don’t know why you keep harping on his name. That’s beyond obnoxious. If he wants to be anonymous for whatever reason it should be his right. And u are being hypocritical by posting the comments about his irl name which he chooses not to post as while remaining anon yourself.

I won’t keep repeating this but kindly please stop. You are not helping the noise to signal problem, only exacerbating it. So am I with this comment unless you actually listen, so I won’t keep it up in the way you’re doing.

  20. For all its flaws, the Electoral College has benefits that many people don’t appreciate. One of them is that it allows every state a wide range of selection methods. They don’t all have to use winner-take-all, plurality voting. I’m glad that Maine will try ranked choice voting. If people feel that the Electoral College is not sufficiently proportional to population, the easiest way to fix that is expand the size of the House of Representatives. The Wyoming Plan would do that with the least disruption, IMO.

  21. Actually, Richard, the Republican Party of 1864 was known as the “National Union Party,” consisting of Republicans and pro-war and pro-Union Democrats like Andrew Johnson, who was from Tennessee, which was still part of the Confederacy at the time.

  22. John Tyler and Andrew Johnson became president soon after their election as VP. Horace Greeley died before the presidential electors met.

In 1952, Allan Shivers ran for governor of Texas on both Democratic and Republican tickets. Shivers headed Democrats for Eisenhower. As a result of that election, Texas outlawed any candidate from appearing on the ballot twice. An exception was later inserted to permit Lyndon Johnson to run for re-election as Senator and for Vice-President. As you know, LBJ was elected to both offices. The Republican John Tower won the special election for the senate seat, and JFK was assasinated three years later.

There may be a curse involving cross-nomination. Tippecanoe and Sanders too?

  23. FATAL minority rule FLAW of the EC —

    went off in 1860 — 750,000 DEAD in 1861-1866.

ALL minority rule Prezs since 1789 —

esp via popular votes since 1832.

25.7 PERCENT OF THE VOTERS ELECTED R PREZ TRUMP IN 2016 — 28 *fixed* gerrymander States and variable gerrymander ME CD2 — 270 of 538 ECV.

Same or less PCT can easily happen in 2020.

How many last second more variable EC gerrymander districts coming before or even worse ex post facto after 2020 Election Day ??? — esp NON-contiguous EC gerrymander districts.

SCOTUS math MORONS have set the stage for Civil W-A-R II in the super-MORON Rucho op in June 2019 — blank check to have rigged packed/cracked gerrymander areas.

TV talking heads / internet non-heads — too MORON math stupid to detect TOTAL DANGER — akin to Germany in 1932-1933.

  24. I see Cyberpig above trying to stick his nose where it doesn’t belong. Mind your own business, xaulie banali. Demo Rep did post gibberish. He doesn’t always but he did here and the anonymous has a right to call him out on it.

  25. Richard is the one who indirectly exposed Thomas Jones (Demo Rep). He seems unstable, potentially capable of causing a freak out. Having his real name out there helps keep people aware in case he does something. Police could pick him up before he gets worse.

  26. More JUNK posts from the standard usual suspects — ZERO facts, ZERO law, ZERO IQs at work — samples of New Age MORONS in the USA to be totally ignored and passed by — if not put in a govt mental hospital for MORONS. See olde Monty Python raving lunes bumping into each other.

  27. Thomas Jones (DemonRep) the MORON needs psychiatric help. He could have a group session with Ogle and Milnes.

  28. DR and anti-DR, why are you both so eager to, on the one hand, have police pick people up and presumably incarcerate them in jails, on the other to have people forcibly caged in mental hospitals – all for some website comments? Why all the name calling, the need to ban each other, the overhyped forecasts of violence? Perhaps a bit more mutual tolerance and respect would do you both some good. Maybe diversify your social milieu and activities, take nature hikes, enjoy music and art, etc? So much hostility and anger can’t be good for you.

  29. MORON Thomas Jones has threatened violence on people. That’s mental illness. I don’t want him to go out and harm people, or worse.

  30. He’s issued generalized rhetoric, not specific threats. He’s issued the same rhetoric for many years. That’s not a sign of someone who is about to commit violence.

If anyone here has called for a specific violent act against a known person who you keep insisting on naming while not naming yourself it’s you. Granted, you’ve only asked for legal measures, but it’s at least as and indeed more plausible you would take the law in your own hands as that he would try to start a new civil war or commit random violence.

  31. New Age politics since Clinton in 1993 — post war PUNKS as USA Prezs – Clinton, Bush II, Obama, Trump

How many debate questions about the national debt and total tax rates [ie percent of folks who are NET tax SLAVES] in the Donkey Prez debates ???

    Just more statist spending schemes.
