Peace & Freedom Party member Ernesto Alexander Huerta is on the ballot for the March 2, 2021 California special election to fill the vacancy in the State Senate, 30th district. The district is in southwest Los Angeles County. The seat is vacant because the former State Senator, Holly Mitchell, resigned to take a seat on the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors.

Technically, California special elections aren’t “top-two”. The first round of a California special election IS an election. Someone can be elected in the first round, by getting over 50%. One of the Democratic candidates in this election is a California Assemblymember. There is a good chance she will get over 50% in this Democratic-leaning district, and be elected in March.
