Sixth Circuit Says Initiative Lawsuit Over Ballot Access Relief Due to Pandemic is Moot

On July 28, the Sixth Circuit ruled that the lawsuit Thompson v DeWine, 21-3514, is moot. This is the case over whether Ohio should have granted ballot access relief to initiatives due to the covid-19 crisis. The opinion says, “The Covid-19 pandemic is unlikely to pose a serious threat during the next election cycle.” Here is the eight-page opinion.

Sixth Circuit Says Initiative Lawsuit Over Ballot Access Relief Due to Pandemic is Moot — 8 Comments

  1. As a member of the Green Party, someone who dislikes the Democrat Establishment nearly as much as the GOP, I think the pandemic will still be a problem come 2022. Not enough people have been vaccinated, not enough people are even willing to do something as painless as masking up in public, and thus given the chance to mutate, variants of the virus are popping up all over the place and starting to make things difficult even for people who have been vaccinated. It’s not a Democrat vs Republican issue, it’s science and a lack of common sense survival instincts among millions of people. The question when it comes to most of us who follow Ballot Access News is whether it will be such a problem that ballot access petitioning is nearly impossible, or if it is possible with extra precautions and a reduction in signature amounts in some areas. 2020 was a difficult year for petitioning and trying to get on the ballot, and I think many of us don’t want to have to go through that again.

  2. Joshua is listening to the lying media again. He obviously has no clue that the vast majority survive, if they even catch it. Children are more likely to die from the flu. This is just an excuse for the government to take away your liberties. People need to continue fighting back.

  3. The real question to ask is what the government’s ulterior motive for the vaccine is.

If the government truly cared about the spread of covid why are they not stopping superspreader illegal aliens from coming into the country from the southern border and spreading the virus throughout?

If the vaccine really works as well as the government claims, why are mask mandates returning for those already vaccinated or for children if teachers have already been vaccinated?

If Blacks and Hispanics have the lowest vaccination rate, why is the government and mainstream media shaming Trump supporters into taking the vaccine?

What is really going on here?

    ANTI-Democracy gangs win again —

    excuse – a disease.

NEVER some disease in future ???

Hack judges at work – with MOOT nonsense.

  5. There is no corona virus. Its a total fake scam start to finish.
Masks and vaccine is what spread the real diseases. Don’t be a sucker.

  6. As a person who did a lot of petitioning around the country over the last year, the only thing that has made petitioning more difficult has been lockdowns, and/or things being canceled or postponed, or only opened limited hours, or by appointment only, or being opened, but having less foot traffic than normal. This of course has not been a problem with everything everywhere, so in places that did not fit the problems I listed, petitioning is about the same as it has always been.

  7. I should have said over the last year and a half above. I petitioned during most of the so called “pandemic” (scamdemic is a more accurate description though, in my opinion).
