Whitney Bilyeu is New Chair of Libertarian Party

On July 12, the Libertarian Party announced the results of the ranked choice voting for national chair of the party. The new chair is Whitney Bilyeu, who has recently been the state chair of the Texas party. There were five rounds before a winner was determined. The decision was made by the national committee, meeting yesterday by zoom.

She is the fourth female in that position. The first was Susan Nolan; the second was Alicia Clark; the third was Mary Gingell.

    Before the Taliban came into power there was a common practice called Bacha Bazi. Men would take young boys, hold them captive, and regularly rape them anally. Afghanistan is the world’s leading producer of poppies, which are used to make opiates.

    But back to the original topic. The Taliban, which means the students, brought morality to Afghanistan. Their values may be different from ours but at least they believe pedophile child molesters like those who practice Bacha Bazi should be eliminated. The Taliban is what the people of Afghanistan want. Let them run the country and leave us out of it. We have more important matters. The people of Afghanistan, particularly its boys, are grateful the US is leaving. The withdrawal is detrimental only to big Pharma and their powerful lobbyists in Washington. Too bad.

  106. UBI is not communism. It still allows a free market to function. Most people aren’t content to survive on UBI alone. It doesn’t do away with ambition, creativity, greed, etc. On the contrary, actual experiments with UBI show it causes recipients to work more. How’s that possible? Many times, lack of basics like reliable transportation, housing, child care, phone service, appropriate work attire, etc, are what keep people from getting and keeping jobs. By helping cover those basics, UBI helps people get and stay employed.

    Leftists are not the only ones who support UBI. Many moderate libertarians support it as well. It cuts down on a lot of the bureaucracy overhead of the current welfare state while maintaining a humane option for those who fall on hard times or have personal problems which make employment challenging, such as mental illness, addiction, etc.

The whole committee voted to cancel the meeting because there was not enough on the agenda to justify having one, with an in person meeting already scheduled last month. They voted correctly. There was no reason to have the meeting with one of the only two items on the agenda being an item by a committee member who will be unavailable that day.
