Arizona House Passes Presidential Elector/Presidential Qualifications Bill

On April 21, the Arizona House passed SB 1024 by the narrow margin of 31-29. Every member of the House cast a vote. This is the bill which started out in the Senate as a bill to remove the names of presidential electors from the November ballot. Earlier this week, the bill was amended in the House to add on a provision that presidential nominees of established political parties must attach documents proving that they meet the Constitutional qualifications.

The bill says such documents are due 10 days after the national parties certify the names of the presidential nominees. But because the 2012 Democratic convention will not choose a presidential nominee until September 3, and because the federal government now requires states to mail foreign absentee ballots at least 45 days before the general election, the bill’s provisions cannot be enforced. The bill says presidential nominees who don’t submit satisfactory documents must be left off the ballot. But the ballots, at least in 2012, will already have been printed before the documents are due. The bill is now getting press attention; see this story.

The bill now returns to the Senate, to see if the Senate will accept the presidential qualifications amendment.

  1. How about ALL qualifications for ALL elected/appointed public officers in ALL of the U.S.A. ???

Or — just more New Age dead parts of the various nearly dead U.S.A. / State constitutions ???

  2. Hoorah! Take that Obama. The tea party is more powerful than you’d ever have thought, and we will soon take the white house!!!

  4. This is as much as a problem with the DEMS as the GOP.
In 2008 the DEMS pick a man at birth was a subject of the Sultan of Zanzibar. He has never been Kenyan. He
did not meet the citizenship requirements of the Constitution of Kenya, his paternal grandfather was
naturalized under the Zanzibar Nationality Decree in 1919. Grandpa Obama was arrested and convicted in 1949
for Mau Mau activities. In 1951 he was let out of prison on a legal error, viz., charged as a subject of
King George VI, when he was a subject of the Sultan of
Zanizabar at the time of his 1949 conviction. Under the
decree Obama grandfather was the source of how Barack Obama became a subject at birth of the Sultan of Zanzibar.

Now to McCain. John S. McCain III was born out of wedlock to Roberta Wright in Colon, Republic of Panama on August 29, 1936.
Roberta Wright did not marry John S. McCain II in TJ
in 1933 as McCain claims. Roberta Wright at the time
of McCain birth was neither an employee of the United
States Governor nor the Panama Railroad Company. There
fore he did not meet the requirements to become a Citizen of the United States under the terms of the
Panama Collective Naturalization Act of August 4, 1937.
The arrival of McCain in December, 1936 in the US was not an entry. Therefore he was an illegal alien with no
    entry.

Sincerely, Mark Seidenberg, Vice Chairman, American Independent Party

  5. I find it interesting that this bill started out as an effort to remove the names of presidential electors from the ballot, for herein lies the solution. There are no special qualifications for presidential electors, so it should be the names of the presidential candidates who are removed from the ballot.
    1) We should be voting for the names of presidential electors, three per congressional district with two of them being at large statewide electors,
    2) In order to make this manageable, each state must go to a Maine/Nebraska style district election system – it’s been done and works,
    3) The presidential electors should be listed WITHOUT party affiliation, and would be the ones campaigning for the principles of their party well before their nominating convention,
    4) Remove pledge requirements so presidential electors can vote for anyone they want in the Electoral College,
    5) The political parties certify their party nominee = the preferred vote of their presidential electors; CONGRESS must be required to do the same after the Electoral College has made their choice. Ultimate responsibility is with Congress.

  6. ABOLISH the time bomb gerrymander Electoral College NOW.

    — count the 620,000 DEAD on both sides in 1861-1865 due to the 1860 minority rule gerrymander election of Prez Lincoln — along with the multi-millions more of grieving relatives (with DEAD fathers, sons, brothers, uncles, cousins, etc.), friends and neighbors for about 90 years more.

Uniform definition of Elector in ALL of the U.S.A.
    P.R. for legislative bodies
Nonpartisan Approval Voting for all elected executive officers and all judges.
Possible recalls of ALL elected and appointed persons.

Difficult ONLY for MORONS stuck in the ANTI-Democracy minority rule past and present.

  7. The qualifications to be President of these United States are spelled out in the Constitution.

    Article II Section 1 reads:
“No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States”.

The document is very clear as to the minimum requirements of “natural born citizenship, and that the President must be at least 35 years old, and that he/she must have actually resided in the U.S. for 14 years.

Three simple conditions, but they required by the US Constitution!

It would seem that very state has a mandate to require proof of eligibility for ALL elected offices
