Los Angeles Times Features Story on a Small California City which does Not Allow Free Elections

The Los Angeles Times has this story about Vernon, California, a city which never has contested city elections, and in which virtually all voters are dependent on city officials for the ability to live inside the city limits.  Thanks to Rick Hasen’s ElectionLawBlog for the link.

  1. This is a fascinating article. It mentions that in some states businesses have a right to vote. Richard, do you know which states those are?

    What INSANE reason does the CA regime permit very small tyrant burgs to exist ???

  3. #2, I don’t really think it means businesses per se can vote. I think it means land-owners can vote. So if a corporation owned land, it could probably vote. Obviously the governing body would decide how to cast the vote.
