Texas Republican Party Chair Warns that Primary May be Delayed Until June 26

For the last few weeks, virtually everyone who has been following the Texas redistricting trial has assumed that the Texas primary this year will be May 29. However, on February 24, the Texas Republican Party state chair issued a letter, warning that there is a possibility the primary won’t be held until June 26. Here is the letter. Thanks to TexasRedistricting blog for the link.

A June 26 primary would require a major revision to the state’s procedure for independent presidential candidates, because the independent presidential petition can’t begin to circulate until after the primary.

  1. June 26 primary + 70 days to runoff
September 4 runoff + 30 days for independent petitioning
October 4 deadline + 12 days to count petitions
October 16 start to election prep + 70 days to general election

    December 25 general election.

  2. I don’t see why you think the independent presidential primary petition procedure is a problem. It only needs a couple of changes to Elections Code 192.032 (f) and (g).

    (f) The following statement must appear at the top of each page of the petition: “I did not vote this year in a presidential primary election. And by signing this petition, I become ineligible to vote in a presidential primary election this year.”

    (g) A signature on the petition is invalid if the signer:

    (1) signs the petition on or before the date established in statute for the presidential primary election in the presidential election year; or

    (2) a voter who signs the petition is ineligible to vote in a presidential primary election during the presidential election year.

  3. How about a repeat of 1996 due to Bush v. Vera ???

Does the regime Guv have the power to convene the regime Legislature — due to the worse and worse election CHAOS ???

How about a Bush v. Gore 2000 type Hammer opinion from SCOTUS — made especially for Texas ???

i.e. the U.S.A. Constitution and laws WILL BE ENFORCED — regardless of ALL of the robot party hack MORONS in the rotted to the core Texas regime.

  4. #3 If someone were planning to run for president as an independent, they could intervene in the SA case.
