On April 21, the Constitution Party nominated Virgil Goode for President, on the first ballot. He is the first Constitution Party presidential nominee to have held important elected office.
The vote was: Virgil Goode 203, Darrell Castle 120, Robby Wells 58, Susan Ducey 15, Laurie Roth 6. Delegates from 35 states cast votes.
Castle carried Arizona, Indiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, and Washington. Wells carried Illinois and West Virginia. Ducey carried her home state of Kansas. Roth did not carry any states, and got most of her votes from Michigan. All states not mentioned were either carried by Virgil Goode, or had ties. Thanks to Nancy Chiasson for the vote detail. UPDATE: Jim Clymer of Pennsylvania, the party’s outgoing national chair, is the Vice-Presidential nominee.
WOW! Close vote. Virgil Goode only won on the first ballot with one vote to spare – needed 202 and got 203. Darrell Castle came in second with 120, Robby Wells 58, Susan Ducey 15 and Laurie Roth 6. Oddly, no votes for Don Grundmann, not even for himself. http://www.independentpoliticalreport.com/2012/04/virgil-goode-wins-constitution-party-nomination-on-first-ballot-picks-vp-choice/
Roth did not carry any state she received 1 vote from MD and 5 from MI, not a majority from either state.
Thank you for the update. Please update us if a VP candidate is selected this weekend. Also, who is the new Chairman?
Jim Clymer chosen VP candidate on up and down voice vote. Castle presiding.
GO VIRGIL AND JIM
Goode/Clymer 2012 – Hmmm, sort of has a ring to it. Perhaps they should adopt the mountain goat as their new logo: http://www.lolyland.net/2010/09/crazy-goats.html

Goode made a wise choice in Jim Clymer. I think it sends the right message that Goode is serious about his conversion to the CP and may help put some of his past congressional votes in a better light. He has lots to atone for but Clymer is a good “conscience” for him to fall back on when he needs the reminder that government IS the problem not the solution.
#2, thank you. I corrected the post. Michigan and Massachusetts are next to each other in the alphabetical list of states, and I mis-read the spread sheet for the Roth column.

Craig,
New CP National officer are: Frank Fluckinger (UT) – Chairman, Randy Stufflebeam (IL) – Vice-Chairman, Cindy Redburn – Secretary, and Jim Headings – Treasurer.
#11, thanks for that news about the new party officers. Frank has been in charge of party development of Constitution Party state affiliates in the interior west, and he has done a good job. Earlier this year and late last year, he helped the Wyoming Constitution Party get on the ballot as a party for the first time.

“Frank Fluckiger” – no “n” in the last name. Sorry, I was just doing cut and paste from email updates.
How many national polls have ANY mention of non-Donkey/Elephant candidates by name and party ??? — other than in 1992 — Perot.
Since James Clymer is not the Constitution Party’s National Chairman anymore, does this mean that the Constitution Party has to move their national headquarters out of his law office in Lancaster, PA, or is he going to let them keep the office there even though he’s no longer the Chairman?
Yawn….
Thanks for stopping by, Walt. Now go f— yourself!

Now, that’s an interesting question.

Wow, I missed A LOT at the national convention and am grieved at my inability to take part in such historical things. GREAT JOB fellow CONSTITUTION PARTY MEMBERS. You have done a remarkable job. Now, let’s get busy and kick some BOOTIE cuz “We’re not gonna take it….NO…we’re not gonna take it…..WE’RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE.” (Not that I really want Twisted Sister as our pet band but the song totally fits our thinking and how far gone the dems/reps have pushed us. I’m warming up my pipes cuz the fat lady’s fixin’ to sing….IT IS TIME FOR THE CONSTITUTION PARTY TO ROCK THE HOUSE…..SENATE…..ETC…..but we shall start with the PRESIDENCY…HMMMM…..AMERICANS…..YOU HAVE THREE CHOICES NOW……A SOCIALIST…A LIBERAL PROGRESSIVE….OR A CONSTITUTIONALIST…Will you vote FOR the RIGHT candidate or against the most evil and for the lesser evil….FEAR OR FAITH…Choose one before God Almighty because He is the only one who truly counts.
The Constitution Party was most respectful & independent in its nomination, as you can tell. There weren’t any boos or hisses when a particular candidate was or wasn’t voted for. Imagine that, a Republican Congressman seeking the Constitution Party’s nomination. Being able to vote for Goode requires the Constitution Party to have ballot access, check with the coordinator in your state to find out how this can happen. State coordinator info is at http://www.CnstitutionParty.com. Republicans & Democrats make ballot access rules.
How did you find out V. Goode was the Constitution Party’s nominee?

By the way, though this thread is long in the tooth now
I can report that the national office will remain the political center
of the universe, Lancaster, PA. It was a good decision.
