Los Angeles County Democratic Party Resolves to Support Restoration of Write-in Voting in California General Elections

On June 14, the Los Angeles County Democratic Party Executive Committee resolved to work for the restoration of write-in space on California general election ballots. Currently, California allows write-ins in non-partisan elections, and in primaries, but not in general elections for Congress and partisan state office. The legislature removed write-in space from those elections in 2012.

California and Louisiana are the only states that ever permitted write-ins in general elections, and then took write-in space away from the voters. Thanks to Diana Shaw for this news.

  1. Are ALL incumbents totally EVIL powermad NOT wanting to have ANY opposition ???

    See 14th Amdt, Sec. 2.
    P.R. and nonpartisan App.V.

  2. California should move the primary to September, rename it the general election, and permit election to by majority vote for all offices.

California should send a resolution to Congress urging that states with non-partisan nominations that hold their first stage after September 1, be permitted to elect by majority on that date.

Pending Congressional action, a congressional candidate who receives a majority would be the only candidate to advance to the November runoff.

Write-ins would permitted in the runoff, but there would be a sore loser provision as there is in Washington state. If the winning candidate in the November runoff received less than 45% of the vote, then there would be a second runoff in January.

  3. Our team supports ONE at-large election in the State of California on the first Tuesday of November for ALL 53 California Congress candidates every two years, allowing write-ins too, while using pure proportional representation (PR).

A coalition of Americans united for the purpose of establishing truly representative government:

Have an unrelated question. If you still have
my email please send me contact information, because I think you left Red Bluff.

    Sincerely, Mark Seidenberg

  5. Ya, nice speaking to you again, “Nark”.

It’s been a long time…last time I saw ya, you bought me dinner, thanks again!

I left the “Rodeo Town” of Red Bluff and now I’m at Cannery Row, Monterey, California.

Glad to hear you’re interested in the RCV system!

If I can get you some paper ballots, maybe I can demonstrate this at a meeting sometime?

We could use it to unite the different factions at one of your elections with our group of about 100.

We can use some Constitutionalists on our United Coalition, you and Markham may each write in as many names as you’d like since we now have the cap raised to 1000 so they’d all be elected to the team. Works well! 🙂

Let me know, and I’ll mail you some paper ballots (which are just like the “eballot” below).

I’ll get back to you soon about that:

I’ll phone you or email you. Wow, looks like you’re still Chair of the AIP!

    I am honored!

    Very truly yours,
