Joe Miller Decides Not to Seek Constitution Party Presidential Nomination

On April 12, Joe Miller decided not to seek the Constitution Party’s presidential nomination after all. Just three days ago he had said he would seek it. The Constitution Party presidential convention opens in Salt Lake City on Wednesday, April 13. The frontrunner for the nomination now appears to be Darrell Castle of Tennessee, who is an attorney and who was the party’s vice-presidential nominee in 2008.

  1. I’m pleased to hear Castle is back in. He seems like a good man. With all the lunacy going on in the LP, Castle may be the alternative to the god-awful “choice” between Hillary and The Donald.

  2. Highly doubt that since that “lunacy” is a typical political party primary that will conclude once the LP has their national convention next month and they afterward rally around the winner, whom is going to have ballot access in ALL 50 states.

However congrats still to Castle jumping back in; guess he’s been able to keep the medical issues at bay after all.

  3. Richard, is there any legal scenario where the eventual CP nominee could step aside for another name in 2-3 months?

  4. That depends on Constitution Party national rules, which might be altered at the convention itself.

  5. Wasn’t there a former congressman from Indiana who was running for the nomination?

  6. Party rules necessitate disaffilation if nominee is replaced – highly unlikely any would. 32 states have “sore loser” laws which would preclude anyone who ran for the GOP nod.
CP will have Darrell Castle at the top of the ticket.

  7. Castle would have to be drafted at the convention since he did not intend to originally run. There is a movement to do that very thing. I would doubt they would replace the candidate with anyone else after the nomination. I don’t think their rules would allow for that. And sore loser laws do not apply in the POTUS race except in 3 states I believe.

  8. Cody Quirk I was a LP member… the shit that has descended upon the LP has caused me and thousands of others to move on. The LP is a complete joke at this point. You have ridiculous in-fighting from a wanna be libertarian (Petersen) who has ZERO executive experience, a pragmatist ‘libertarian’ (Johnson) and a nut case that is unelectable (McAfee). They’re done this election cycle and likely forever into the future.

  9. Has any one seen William “Bill” Lussenheide, Charles M. Deemer, or Marilyn Stevens in Salt Lake City.
Reason, They have formed a entity name “Independent Party” and they are suing the California Secretary of
State for the use of that name, even though it is part of the name of the “American Independent Party”
so it will confuse the California electors.

Marilyn Stevens is the mother of Gary Odom.

Sincerely, Mark Seidenberg, Chairman, American Independent Party of California

  10. McCarrick, the L.P. isn’t perfect, but they are the largest national third party in the country in terms of ballot access (they finally got on in Oklahoma), registered voters, and organizational strength. Regardless of the quality of their presidential primary selections this year- they were able to have one of their presidential debates broadcast on mainstream television thanks to John Stossel, and one of the L.P. presidential candidates- Gary Johnson -got 11% in a three-day matchup with Trump and Hillary in a serious presidential poll.
The L.P. is going places and gaining serious traction this year and will do well this November.

    Your outlook is quite laughable.

However with no serious candidate which could garner much publicity with the general media, if there’s one national minor party that’s not going to do well this year- it is the CP.
