In May 2016, New Hampshire Representative Max Abramson changed his registration from “Republican” to “Libertarian.” In June, he filed a Declaration of Candidacy as a Libertarian Party candidate for Governor. He represents Seabrook.
New Hampshire voter registration forms have a blank line for political party choice, so any person can register into any party. However, New Hampshire election officials won’t tally such registrations unless the party is a qualified party. Thanks to Andy Craig for this news.
I thought he resigned
He is in the legislature now, representing the Rockingham County 20th district. Here is a link to the New Hampshire state legislature’s web page listing him as a Libertarian.

It says an error has occurred.
If you open up the link provided, click on “Who Is My Legislator” on the sidebar, select Rockingham County on the map of Vermont, then select Seabrook on the map of Rockingham County, it’ll take you to the list of legislators that represent that area, which has a clickable link for Max Abramson’s page. There, he’s listed as a Libertarian: “Representative Max Abramson (L).” If this link works, it’ll take you directly to that page: http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/house/members/member.aspx?member=377201
I can’t resist. Why didn’t Max Abramson have to circulate a petition with a majority from his constituents to allow him to change his party affiliation? Yeah, I expect to see that become a law somewhere. I really hate all these restrictions on ballot access and party affiliation as if voters are serfs of the old entrenched parties.
It looks like the Libertarian Party will have a strong candidate for Governor.
So, LP now has Reps in New Hampshire, Nebraska, Nevada, and Utah. With reps who have endorsed Johnson/Weld in all those states, plus Montana.
When was the last time a minor party had state legislative representation in four states at once?
The period 1912-1916, when the Progressive Party and the Socialist Party had state legislators in quite a few states.
The New Hampshire state legislature has 10,500 members.
