Mr. Winger, which candidate for president got the most write in votes in addition to being on the ballot in other states? Was it Eugene McCarthy in 1976? Also, have you ever heard anything about the famous 1968 write in campaign of Pat Paulsen of the STAG Party? I’ve heard he got anywhere from 60 thousand to 200 thousand write ins, however I’ve never seen any state by state totals.
Also, what are the other six states that count all write ins?
What State permits a write-in Prez winner (with NO pre-election E.C. Electors list) to have such a list AFTER the election day ???

Still it is a wasted vote , since Sanders was never interested in running as an independent or third party candidate. However there is a campaign on social media to write in Sanders. It is suspected that the Hillbots are behind. it . One useless write-in vote for Sanders ,one less vote for Jill Stein.
My vote would be for Nicaraguan defense minister Eden Pastora if I lived in Vermont.
Any vote is much worse than *useless* if it is cast for EVIL.
The best percentage any write-in presidential candidate ever got was Ralph Nader in 2000, in some of the states in which he was not on the ballot. He got 2.45% in Idaho, 2.12% in Wyoming, .51% in Georgia, and .84% in Indiana. He is the only person who ever got as much as 1% of the vote for president in any state as a write-in. He outpolled Pat Buchanan in Idaho and Wyoming even though Ralph was a write-in and Pat was on the ballot.
If Sanders were to win a state like Vermont through write-in votes, how would the electoral college members be selected?
Probably the Vermont Secretary of State would ask Bernie Sanders to nominate three candidates for presidential elector. And probably he would then select the three nominees of the Democratic Party. And they would then probably vote for Hillary Clinton in December in the electoral college.
Would that be constitutional?
“The Congress may determine the Time of chusing [sic] the Electors, and the Day on which they shall give their Votes; which Day shall be the same throughout the United States.” – Article II, Section 1, Clause 4 of the Constitution
This seems to strongly imply that all electors have to be “chosen” on Election Day, which is “Time of choosing” specified by Congress and which is uniform nationwide.
Of course, it usually takes time to determine who won, but that’s just the time it takes to tabulate the votes and certify the result. But the actual “chusing” is still done on Nov. 8th. That doesn’t seem quite the same as “choosing somebody on Nov. 8 who will then choose the electors at a later date.”
What are the other states that allow un-filed write-in candidates?
Vermont, Iowa, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Oregon

33– the uniform date was to prevent the possible total CORRUPTION by having different dates — the same reason why there is a uniform date for electing USA Reps and Senators — regardless of the lawless morons in LA and other States with any so called run-off elections in Dec.

Note that Jill Stein is on the ballot in all 8 of these ‘write-in anyone’ states, as well as for 90% of all voters. In the three states that Jill is not on the ballot but that allow write-ins, the deadline to file has passed, and Bernie did not file, but Jill has filled. In Nevada, the only progressive option is to vote for “none of these”.

I believe the write in Bernie campaign believes it can flip Vermont’s three electoral votes and jam the electoral college, providing Bernie a narrpw path to the presidency.
However, with Evan McMullin polling within the margin of error to flip Utah’s six electoral votes and Gary Johnson polling high enough to possibly flip New Mexico’s five electoral votes… the write ins for Bernie in Vermont still leave him behind in either fourth or fifth place. He will not be eligible for presidential selection by the speaker of the House.
Far more effective strategy to flip Vermont’s three electoral votes to Jill Stein. Since she has more ballot access 47 plus DC, she might be able to win additional states in New England and place third for consideration by the House.
Or… if the sleeping independent and undecided giants roar awake, Stein might really jam the works and place first…
