Michigan List of Declared Write-in Presidential Candidates

Although Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson refuses to post the list of declared write-in candidates on her web page, the official list is available at this link. It is a communication from the Secretary of State’s office to local election officials. Thanks to John Anthony LaPietra for the link.

Michigan List of Declared Write-in Presidential Candidates — 7 Comments

  1. One more MORON action by one more MORON robot party hack — R.J. who happens to be an Elephant — i.e. to screwup anti-Trump voters.

How many LAWLESS actions going on by the robot party HACKS — to subvert the entire election process ???

  2. @William Sollenberger: Maybe this note on the list helps explain that: “(Note however that the deadline for Presidential candidates filing a Declaration of Intent form elapsed on Friday, September 9, 2016.)” Mind you, I don’t know on what authority this statement is based. Do you see anything in MCL 168.737a, the statute requiring a Declaration of Intent for write-ins, about different requirements for Presidential candidates?

  3. I agree. But I believe the clerks’ associations — county and local — lobbied for the change in the law to require the Declaration of Intent, presumably to ease their workloads on and just after election night.

(Mind you, if we can’t write just anybody in, we should at least get to find out who our official declared write-in choices are. I’ve been trying for a few years now to get the Secretary of State to post the lists of declared write-ins at the polling places.)

Anyway, I’m still wondering where the SOS gets the September 9 date for Presidential write-ins to file that declaration. It’s not in the law, and I don’t even see it in the state’s “big booklet of election dates” at

  4. I live in Missouri.so it’s different. The Socialist Equality party is on the ballot in Michigan still aren’t they. The Socialist Equality party was the Workers League and use to attack the Socialist Workers Party and I think they took the Socialist Workers Party to court before or after the incident involving Former Socialist Workers Party member Mark Curtis who was accused of rape.I think there complaints was the Socialist Workers party was full of FBI informants.Someone please help me on this one.I am still confused about that.I know the Socialist Workers party Detroit branch has shut down along with the Houston Branch.

  5. @William Sollenberger
seems this year the SEP is neither on the ballot nor does it have write-in status in Michigan even though the presidential candidate is from there.
