Commission on Presidential Debates’ Web Page No Longer Lists Corporate Sponsors

According to this article written by Our American Initiative, and published on Jack News, the web page of the Commission on Presidential Debates no longer lists the sponsors of the debates. That is, the web page doesn’t list any corporations that contributed the money for the 2016 general election debates, even though that same web page had done so in past presidential election years.

Probably the corporations that sponsor the Commission are now aware that the Commission is not very popular, and the corporate sponsors don’t want the public to know of their sponsorship.

Commission on Presidential Debates’ Web Page No Longer Lists Corporate Sponsors — 4 Comments

  1. It looks to me like it is just inconsistent website maintenance. How much staff does the commission have between elections? In 2013, they received $1750 in contributions; in 2014, they received $100,000; before ramping up in $8,000 million in 2015.

If you look at the sponsor webpage, it is a hodge podge of styles, indicating someone was told to update the website. The content for the rest of the website includes history through 2012, but has not been updated to include new content.

  2. It looks to me like the CPD is following President Trumps lead regarding not revealing who’s funding their activities. By not listing who’s paying the bills those funders can not be held to account, corporate, NGO or individuals. Whether via courts nor regulator.
