Jennie Stultz, a former Mayor of Gastonia, North Carolina, tried to get on the ballot as an independent candidate for State House this year, but she was unable to obtain the required signatures. The law required her to get 4% of the number of registered voters in her district, which was about 2,300 signatures. See this story.
Gastonia has a population of approximately 76,000.
When the legislature eased the ballot access laws last year, it eased them for newly-qualifying parties, and independent candidates for statewide office and U.S. House. But it did not ease them for independent candidates for the legislature. Only Georgia has such a difficult petition requirement for independent candidates for the legislature, and Illinois is almost as stringent.
However, with two newly-qualified parties, both of which will nominate by convention. That will give her two additional chances to run.

Jennie Stultz is not fit to be in power of anything. Ms Stultz has been and will never change. Ms Stultz is a very corrupted person. Ms Stultz takes Money and she does favors for her friends. Ms Stultz made my life a living Hell for 5 years when I had a bussiness in Gastonia. Ms Stultz cost the taxpayers Hundreds of Thousands of Dollars to Shut my business down. Because Ms Stultz had a friend that was in the same business as I was in. (the scrap metal business.)
Ms Stultz also had 2 of her close friends that owned Austin International. Randy Austin and Debbie. Ms Stultz had the Gastonia City Police and the County Police Watch me day and night for 5 years, trying to fine something on me so that she could have me locked up again aaand again. Ms Stultz would make sure that the police dept. would not lock me up durning the day she would have them come to my home around 11:oclock pm at night. I had to keep at lease $5,000 dollars on me at all times just incase she lock me up again. I was locked up some many times that it was not funny. She had 47 diffrent charges on me. and the deal was, if I would close my business down and leave the State of North Carolina, that the District Attorney (Lock Bell) would drop all Charges again me. That,s Blackmail.
I could go on and on about Ms Stultz, it make me sick just to talk about her. If your looking for a Corrupt Politician, then she,s your ideal Person.
Mr. Lock Bell and the Officers are not any better then Ms Stultz. and lets not forget Mr. G.T. Willis

I just read that Ms. Stultz is still as Corrupted as she has always been. She is even lieing about how many Signatures she has for to get on the Ballot. Ms Stultz Submitted Duplicate Signatures to get on the ballot for the House. Ms Stultz will Lie, Cheat and Steal to get on the ballot. evidently Ms Stultz Can’t find enough people to sign her Ballot So She just went and made up names and Duplicated the few Signatures She has.
