Conservative Party of Illinois Files 60,000 Signatures to be on Ballot for Governor and Lieutenant Governor

The Conservative Party of Illinois says it is submitting 60,000 signatures on June 25, Monday, to be on the ballot for Governor and Lieutenant Governor. The gubernatorial nominee is State Senator Sam McCann.

  1. Btw, the Conservative Party was created for McCann’s run. Additionally, they/he did not have to file a full slate of candidates thanks to a relatively recent Libertarian Party of Illinois lawsuit. The LPIL did file a full slate.

    Illinois’ sore loser law prohibits primary losers from running as a candidate in another established party or as an independent, but not as a new party candidate. Possibly because it relied on the old full slate requirement to prevent what McCann did.
