Recount in Washington’s U.S. House District 2 Likely, to Determine Second-Place Finisher — 6 Comments

  1. Deadline to print Nov ballots ???

Yet another example to have NO primaries.

    PR and AppV

  2. @Demo Rep,

Washington permits ballots postmarked by election day to be counted. Washington moved its primary earlier in the year to provide for contingencies such as a recount.

If there were no elections wouldn’t your concerns be addressed?

  3. Perhaps NO elections in the JR universe only ???

How long do the election folks look at smeared postmark dates in WA after the election day ???

    — weeks ??? months ??? years ???

Ever get any mail with NO postmark date ???

Ever get any mail which has been lost/MIA for weeks/months in the USPSnail regime —
just happened recently to yours truly with a BAN copy it so happens !!!

PR and AppV means having elections.

  4. @Demo Rep,

Counties certified results on August 21. State certifies result on August 24.

Recount begins after that. Washington presumes write-in, undervotes, and overvotes may be miscounted. In Snohomish Counry there were 980 write-in’s, 98 overvotes, and 6288 undervotes.

You will be interested in this report (Snohomish County has a bit more than half the population in the county).

  5. How many publik skoool gradu8s made the overvotes ???

Did they move from 2000 FL to 2018 WA ???

  6. @Demo Rep,

Washington is an all mail ballots. If you make a mistake, you can either try to get a new ballot, or mark a correction on the ballot and hope election officials can understand what you meant.

It appears about 1.5% of ballots were mailed in late. This year, Washington paid for return postage, and the share of ballots that were mailed back, rather than hand-delivered to collection centers was down. Perhaps voters mailed them on election day expecting them to be postmarked, whereas in the past they would have taken them by a drop off box.
