Two Democratic Party-Associated Groups Threaten Howard Schultz if He Runs as an Independent

American Bridge and the Progressive Change Campaign Committee recently declared publicly that they will do everything they can to injure Howard Schultz if he runs for president in 2020 as an independent. See this story.

Also, on January 28, Andrew Tanenbaum, who founded the web page electoral-vote.com, wrote “Democrats are not powerless to stop Schultz if they really want to. They have a trifecta in 14 states, including Washington, Oregon, California, Nevada, Colorado, Illinois, New York, and New Jersey. That means they can pass any laws they want to. For example, they could pass a law requiring independent candidates or new parties to get the signatures of 20% of the registered voters in every one of the state’s counties in order to qualify for ballot access. In practice, no one could ever do that, but states have broad authority to determine the rules for elections, so that might well stand up in court. Faced with such a barrier, Schultz, who is not well known, might decide to forget the whole thing.”

  1. Rachel Maddow and every other Democrat will shout from the roof tops that it’s just the Republicans kicking people off the voter rolls and that the Democrats are the party that wants everyone to have the opportunity to vote. What they leave out is that they only want people to have the opportunity to vote for their party.

  2. Men, we have an awesome set of female candidates with whom Schultz might make an excellect Vice President.

The party bosses are already becoming biased towards women and their corrupt methods might elect two Libertarian females.

Only the PPR Elector College can elect a male and female team from two different parties/categories in the new three-party system for President.

    Libertarian/One in 2020

  3. Perhaps Schultz could bypass all those ballot requirements if he ran as a Libertarian. It would be interesting to see a Libertarian nomination battle between Weld and Schultz

  4. Perhaps the LP could nominate BOTH Schultz AND Weld!! What a fantastic idea!! They could WIN!!! Hot damn… how exciting!!!! Oh wait, neither of the are libertarians…BUT what does THAT matter!!!!

  5. The response of prominent Democrats to the specter of an Independent run just confirms that Howard Schultz is right when he says both Democrats and Republicans are only concerned with getting power, and not with dealing with the real problems facing America.

America really does need an alternative party.

  6. CB —

how many of alleged Donkeys / Elephants are hard core COMMUNISTS / FASCISTS ???

See the fraud show esp in the USA gerrymander Congress of CONTROL FREAK MONSTERS.

  7. How soon before the STATIST gangs make DEATH threats to candidates ???

See the Godfather gangsters movie series in the 1970s.

  8. This Andrew Tanebaum guy is basically admitting that the Democratic Party acts like a mafia.

  9. Casual Bystander: William Weld is a member of the Libertarian party. Reason magazine did a great interview with him explaining that his understanding of Libertarian ideas has broadened and deepened. I support William Weld as the Presidential nominee of the Libertarian party in 2020.

  10. Typical.

Were this a right-leaning or populist-conservative independent -the GOP & the Pro-Trump crowd would be behaving the same EXACT way.

Twin parties gotta suppress the competition.

  11. I could support William Weld, depending on who he picks as a running mate and how he addresses/deals with the stuff about him that turns off the more passionate and stalwart members of the LP.

Would like to see Larry Sharpe run, but he likely will not next year :/

  12. Weld should run with Schultz. Perhaps Kasich could factor in somehow. Please, please, please don’t suggest ANY of them for the Libertarian Party. The Party of Principle is becoming a bad joke with clowns like these.

  13. I wouldn’t vote for Weld if you put a gun to my head. He’s a statist and total fraud. The LP is nothing more than corrupt sellouts.
