  1. Is it partisan? This office seems lower than even dog catcher, so does it really matter? Why does it even exist?

Focus on city councils and actual county races, not stuff like this.

  2. The 39th president of the United States began his political career on his county hospital board.

    Wallace Dunn for President?

  3. HOW MANY PREZS/CONGRESS HACKS/SCOTUS HACKS HAVE BEEN PARTY HACK PRECINCT DELEGATES ???

  4. Thanks Nate for sharing this. The first commenter obviously is clueless about health care. It’s a huge part of our economy in the country. This hospital is the 3rd largest employer in the county. We serve 17 surrounding counties. Our annual budget is pushing $500 million. So yeah, I’ll just run for dog catcher next. Honestly that first commenter probably voted for Hillary.

  5. It was a district race and in Texas, local races can be cancelled if there is only one candidate. The 7 district races, are staggered, with three contested this year, and four in 2017/2021. But two of the three district races were uncontested.

It was nominally a joint election with the school district and the junior college district, but all of the school district races were uncontested, as were two of the three junior college districts.

Probably bunches of folks heard about the hospital district race, but weren’t in the district that was voting, so ended up with a ballot with just the one junior college race.

If Texas were to adopt Top 2, all the county races could be moved to the spring, along with city races like Odessa, and eliminate the staggering of district races, so everyone votes or no one votes.

  6. No, did not vote for Hillary Clinton.

Was it a partisan election? Notice how you evaded that question.
