The Gainesville (Georgia) Times has this editorial, saying Georgia’s petition requirements for minor party and independent candidates for U.S. House are too difficult and should be eased.

  1. Overall, a great article highlighting the total dysfunction when it comes to Ballot Access in Georgia. They left out how the rules are also different when running for an office that isn’t state-wide, such as State House or Senate, which would have been nice to see to demonstrate even further the dysfunction. That being said, it’s a very clear and straightforward article that’s easy to comprehend.

  2. 1,000 petition signatures should be the max required for a qualified candidate to be listed on the election law. 5,000 should be the max required for a new political party to be registered and nominate a slate of candidates.
