North Carolina State Board of Elections Still Tracks Green and Constitution Party Registration, Despite Their Losing Qualified Party Status

The North Carolina State Board of Elections posts registration data every week.  The latest tally, December 12, still shows the Green Party and Constitution Party registrants, even though those parties went off the ballot last month.  Members of those parties are asking the State Board of Elections to let them keep their registered members.  In the past, North Carolina has been one of a handful of states that forcibly converts members of parties to “independent” status when the party goes off the ballot.

  1. Very interesting, even though in the last week, both the Green Party and the Constitution Party gained registration in North Carolina.

Comparing the week ending 12/12/2020 with the prior week (North Carolina updates their number weekly), North Carolina saw a net increase of 3,216 registered voters (7,405,916 – 7,402,700)

Here’s how that number broke down:

    New Republicans: 1,850
    New Unaffiliated: 1,668
    New Libertarians: 169
    New Greens: 45
    New CP: 52

Adding these numbers up, you get 3,784, which is more than the net increase. The reason is that the absolute numbers of Democrat registered voters declined by 588. Perhaps the Democrats are most deserving of losing party status …

  2. NOOOO public party registration PURGE lists.
