Link to New Jersey Gubernatorial Election Returns

The New York Times has this link to the New Jersey gubernatorial race, although the party labels are incorrect. The New Jersey ballots correctly label Hoffman as the Green Party nominee, Mele as the Libertarian nominee, and Kuniansky as the Socialist Workers Party nominee. But the New York Times has them all labelled “independent.” UPDATE: the newspaper has corrected its website and now shows the party labels.

The most likely defense is mental incapacity or a guilty plea in order to avoid a death penalty. Milnestein is suggesting a justification defense because he believes a jury could be convinced that all Jews are terrorists who deserve to be executed at random.

  32. Yes, congress should not establish a Church of the United States. That doesn’t mean that the supreme kangaroos should interfere with the free exercise of religion by local public school districts, either. No one thought the Constitution implied anything of that nature until the radical courts of the 1960s turned the constitution on its head.

It says Congress, not “govt”, and establish a religion or prohibit the free exercise there of, not “action for or against whatever religious ideas.” Contrast that with the language of the second amendment. If the meaning you read it into had been the intent it would have read something like “the right of the people to have any religion or to be free from religion shall not be infringed.”

    It doesn’t say anything like that, because it was never meant to. The phrase “wall of separation between church and state” was in Jefferson’s letters, not the constitution, because it was an idiosyncratic opinion few shared at the time.
