Common Sense Party of Michigan Will Soon Start to Petition for Party Status

The Common Sense Party is about to start its petition drive for party status in Michigan. The Board of State Canvassers is expected to approve the petition forms on May 19. In Michigan, a party that wishes to petition must first get the petition format approved by the state. Thanks to Fairvote for this news.

  1. Are they connected to the Common Sense Party of California? I think I heard they are not connected.

  2. A previous discussion here revealed they have nothing to do with California.

  3. There should never be any individual candidates or ballots. Standing count by party only.

  4. Common sense, to the extent such a thing exists, should tell you that a “common sense political party” would be much like a used car dealership named Honest Car Sales or a “No BS faith healing” storefront or similar use of name to assuage completely justifiable caution because a lot of people are genuinely stupid. It’s “these are not the droids you are looking for” in real life, but not because of any supernatural force, just because you said it and your target audience is a simpleton.

  5. I predicted this years ago. This will be Republicans too embarrassed to call themselves Republicans anymore. But, like a company that just changes its name without improving the quality of its product or customer service, they won’t have any new ideas…or common sense.
