Maine Green Legistator Reelected

John Eder, who was elected to the Maine legislature in 2002, was re-elected on November 2, 2004, even though the legislature had redistricted the state house boundaries in 2003 and virtually abolished Eder’s district. Eder won a 2-person race with 51%.

  1. I want to clarify on this story. Eder’s district was not abolished but was rather cut in half and added on to another district. I believe this required him to move to a new apartment a few streets over. That area of Maine is among the most liberal neighborhoods in America. Greens have been running for the last 25 years in those neighborhoods and to this point only Eder has won. The Green party has Major Party Status in Maine but will lose it unless they can gain at leat 5% in the race for governor in 2 years.
