Max Linn Sues Over Debate Exclusion

Max Linn, Reform Party candidate for Governor of Florida, filed a lawsuit in state court on October 23, over his exclusion from a debate being sponsored in part by Public Television. Linn has a real campaign, has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars already on TV advertising, has a staff and a campaign headquarters. The US Supreme Court ruled in 1998 that candidate debates sponsored by Public TV cannot exclude candidates with a substantial campaign. The case is Linn v Florida Public Broadcasting Service, filed in lower state court in Broward County.

Ironically, many other minor party and independent candidates for Governor and U.S. Senator this year have been invited into debates with their major party opponents. Such inclusive debates have been held this year in Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota, Texas, Vermont, Washington, and Wyoming.

  3. Bill Lewis wiped the floor with Reform Party candidate Max Linn this morning on WWNN 1470 in Fort Lauderdale. By the end of his show, Bill had Mad Max wondering why he even bothered appearing on the Credit Restoration Consultants Hour. After all, Bill has not only come out strongly in favor of Charlie Crist, but also hosted a fundraiser for the attorney general sans governor. Some of the points drawn out by Bill were Max’s decision to fire at least 10% of state employees upon election, to eliminate the state retirement system for career lawmakers and to do away with attorney advertising on television. When pressed about the election, Max stated that I hope “every voter seeking change will come out to vote for me on Monday.” When Bill commented that the election was on Tuesday, all Mad Max could do was laugh. Of course, Max had no answer when Bill questioned him on his decision to “outsource” Florida criminals to Mexico.

  4. In Florida we have Early voting. It started in October along with absentee voting. I suppose bureaucrats won’t like Max.

    The Republicans must fear him.
They always call you crazy when they fear you.

Cut and Run Flip-Flop Charlie would not have even debated if left to his own fear of Max. Charlie’s Crew was looking for the side dooor once they heard Max was in and Present. Jeb Bush and Bob Martinez (ex-FL-Governor) told Charlie to get on the stage and that he would too debate. Even Davis butched up a bit inspired by Max
